YouGov is a U.Okay.-based analysis and analytics agency working in Europe, North America, the Center East, and Asia-Pacific. A current YouGov survey (PDF) explores public opinion on tariffs throughout Western Europe.
YouGov surveyed 9,455 adults in March 2025 within the U.Okay. (2,155), France (1,002), Germany (2,196), Denmark (999), Sweden (1,011), Spain (1,061), and Italy (1,031).
The survey consisted of 4 questions, beginning with, “If the U.S. have been to position tariffs on E.U. items imported to the U.S., would you assist or oppose the E.U. responding by inserting tariffs on American items imported to the E.U.?”
Most respondents again retaliatory tariffs, with assist highest in Denmark at 79%.

Subsequent, the survey requested, “How a lot influence, if any, do you suppose that the U.S. inserting tariffs on E.U. items imported to the U.S. would have on the E.U. financial system?” and “the [country’s] financial system?
Seventy-five p.c of German respondents imagine tariffs could have “rather a lot” or “vital” influence on their nationwide financial system.
