Atomik AM eyes progress with £600k funding



Atomik AM has secured £600,000 of funding from the Northern Powerhouse Funding Fund II to scale-up its superior manufacturing options.

The UK-based firm, a spinout from the College of Liverpool based by serial additive manufacturing entrepreneur Professor Kate Black, raised the funds from NPIF II – Praetura Fairness Finance, managed by Praetura Ventures. The funding has been earmarked to develop its workforce by 40% and broaden its premises.

This newest funding follows a £125,000 funding from Liverpool Metropolis Area Mixed Authority-backed LYVA Labs again in January to assist the commercialisation of its steel binder jet options, develop new IP, and safe its workforce. Based in 2022, Atomik AM specialises in engineering solutions-based approaches to superior manufacturing and has developed plenty of methods and binders that enhance the method of steel binder jetting. It’s presently within the strategy of patenting its Common Binder for steel 3D steel printing and has been working with gasoline cell and hydrogen manufacturing expertise developer Cygnus Atratus to discover how waste from its aluminium 3D printing processes can be utilized to create clear power. In an interview with TCT final 12 months, Black shared Atomik AM’s imaginative and prescient for “agile manufacturing for a sustainable future,” suggesting that AM has a powerful position to play in selling sustainable manufacturing.
