I wished to confirm my understanding of the Greek phrase "hoi poloi", which has been borrowed by English, so I typed it into Safari’s search bar and was prompted with a recommended dictionary entry. I clicked on it and was taken to a web page on Dictionary.com that had just about nothing apart from advertisements and related assorted trash. Nowhere on the web page was any definition of "hoi poloi"
That is clearly completely ineffective. I do not know whether or not the fault is with Safari or (extra doubtless) with Dictionary.com or one thing in between, nevertheless it would not actually matter—it merely must be fastened someway. How or the place can I configure this to behave otherwise. The worst acceptable case is that I simply disable this and am not lured off the conventional path of looking out via DuckDuckGo.com/search.Courageous.com/no matter, which truly works.
I am utilizing Safari 16.1 (17614.2.9.1.13, 17614) on macOS 12.6 (21G115). Safari’s search engine is ready to DuckDuckGo.
